Towing the vehicle
The towing eye is located at the front of the
vehicle on the right behind a flap in the
bumper vent.
Disengage flap at top and fold down.
Attach a tow rope 3 – or better still a tow
rod 3 – to the eye.
Switch on ignition to release steering
column lock and to permit operation of
brake lamp s, horn and w indscreen wipers.
Set the gear shift lever to neutral or, with
automatic transmission 3, set the selector
lever to N .
Drive off slowly and avoid jerky
movem ents. Impe rmissible tractive f orce s
could damage the vehicles.
Switch on automatic air circulation and
close the windows to prevent exhaust
emissions from the towing vehicle entering
your vehicle.
Vehicles with automatic tra nsmission 3
should be towed facing forwards only and
must not be tow ed faster than 50 mph
( 80 km/h) or further than 60 miles
(100 km). If the transmission is defective, or
if the above spe ed or dista nce is to be
exceeded, the drive shaft must be
disconnected from the rear axle or the rear
axle raised off the ground. In the latter
case, secure the steering wheel to maintain
a straight-ahead position.
Consult a workshop. We recommend your
Vauxhall Authorised Repairer, who will
serve you best to get your vehicle back on
the roa d.
Towing service
Entrust your vehicle only to the towing
service of your choice and obtain an
estimate of towing costs before em ploying
any towing service. In this way you avoid
unnecessary costs and possible insurance
problems during claim processing.
More pressure is necessary to depress
the brake peda l since the brak e s e rv o
unit is only operative when the engine is
running.
C onsiderably grea ter s tee ring force is
necessary sinc e this unit is op erative only
when the engine is running.
